The ‘write’ success for Midlothian author

There is no shortage or writing talent in Midlothian as the results of the annual Writer of the Year competition has proved.

Talented wordsmiths from Mid and East Lothian were honoured at a recent awards ceremony at Dalkeith Arts Centre.

Catherine Simpson from Penicuik, won the prose competition and overall Writer of the Year title for her story “The Pier”.

As the overall winner, Catherine took home the trophy by renowned glass artist, Alison Kinnaird from Temple. She also won £100.
