Three men have reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with five housebreaking offences in Midlothian as part of the ongoing Operation RAC.
A 16-year-old male has now been reported in connection with four housebreaking crimes in Dalkeith.
Meanwhile, two 20-year-old men are now also subject of a report in relation to the alleged theft of a motorcycle from Kennington Avenue, Loanhead, on February 3.
Chief Inspector Jim Royan said: “The number of people subject to police action for their involvement in housebreaking offences and similar crimes has now surpassed 50 and this figure will continue to rise as we carry on with our efforts to bring acquisitive criminals operating within Midlothian to justice.
“Housebreaking, whether it is a home, business or outbuilding, will not be tolerated and those found to be involved will be robustly dealt with.
“Anyone who witnesses a crime of this nature or notices suspicious activity around a property is asked to contact police immediately to help ensure a quick police response.
“In addition those requiring crime prevention advice to protect their properties can also get in touch with us on 101 or by arranging an appointment with their local policing team.”
