British Transport Police are appealing for information after vandals damaged construction property in the Gorbridge area.

Contractors working on the Borders Railway project reported that a roll of drainage material and hay bales had been deliberately set alight at the building compound just north of the Station Road overbridge.

The damage – estimated at several hundred pounds worth – is believed to have taken place sometime between 6pm on May 2 and 8.30am on May 6. Intentional damage was also caused to fencing and pipeworks.British Transport Police can be contacted on 0800 40 50 40.

Meanwhile, it is estimated that the road between Borthwick Castle and Colegate Road will be closed for three months after cracks were identified on Borthwick Bridge last week by the Borders Railway team.
