The 10-year prison sentence handed to the killer of a father who was stabbed outside a Mayfield pub has been branded “disgusting”.
Craig Don Klark, also known as Craig Don Essen, (28), died after a disturbance outside The Rowantree Inn on November 24. Last week Dean Williams (21) was jailed for 10 and a half years after pleading guilty to culpable homicide.
Stephanie Galloway (25), Craig’s former partner and mother of his son, reveals her thoughts on the sentence in the video above.
Speaking exclusively to the Advertiser, she told of how close he was to their son, who is also called Craig Klark.
She said: “He was just brilliant with Craig. Everyone in Mayfield who saw them together would tell you the same. And because Craig was such a huge part of his life there is this big gap now.
“Craig asks every day about what happened, he can get angry. It’s tough because I don’t want to be hard on him.
“When we were in court they were talking about his [Williams’] wee girl, but he will still be able to see her again. What about my son? He will never see his dad again.
“It’s a living nightmare. Christmas was horrendous.”
