A “farcical” trip to Dalkeith Police Station ended when a Falkirk woman drove home without having met anyone face to face.
Karen McBurney had intended to discuss an ongoing problem with her rented flat.
She told The Advertiser: “When I arrived there was a note taped to the door advising that I was to use the yellow phone. This phone automatically directed me to 101 non-emergency number at Police Scotland HQ.
“After explaining that I wanted to speak to an officer in the station I was told that I was unable to because they were on a break between 7-8pm. I couldn’t quite believe that I was calling to discuss a crime and I wasn’t allowed to speak to anyone.”
