Local school looks to the future

Newbattle High’s head teacher has told of his pride as he prepares to oversee a transformation of the community school.

The Advertiser exclusively revealed last week that the aging school is to be rebuilt following a successful bid for Scottish Government funding.

Headteacher Colin Taylor is delighted at the news, which he sees as “another step forward” for the area.

He believes that the news was good for the growing communities of Gorebridge, Mayfield, Easthouses, Middleton and Temple. He added that the new school would open from 7am until 10pm every day, benefitting everyone in the community.

A full consultation process will now take place over the design and location of the new school.
