Four Midlothian groups are celebrating after securing a total of £14,419 from Awards for All Scotland.
Midlothian Community Safety Partnership has received £2,113 towards staging a public community safety event this month.
Play Therapy Base Limited, based in Dalkeith, has been awarded £1,930. The group, which supports distressed/traumatised children and their families through play therapy, is to buy new IT equipment and water heaters.
Loanhead-based Tea For Two has secured £5,465 to fund a support worker and provide singing and cooking activities.
Midlothian Sure Start received £4,910 which will be used by the Dads’ Group to fund a film exploring the issues faced by fathers.
Local MP Owen Thompson (SNP) said: “I’m delighted these grassroots charities are receiving these funds, enabling them to continue their great work in my constituency. Many of these groups rely on funding grants such as this to function, meaning they are a lifeline for local charities and communities across Midlothian in this tough financial climate.”
