The mother of Luke Mitchell is selling her Newbattle home in order that the convicted killer does not return to a house full of “bad memories”.
Corinne Mitchell has put her Newbattle Abbey Crescent property on the market – but she insists she is not leaving Midlothian.
She told the Advertiser: “I’m looking to stay in the area. I want to downsize and also Luke doesn’t want to come back to a house with lots of bad memories for him. I’m going nowhere – we have done nothing wrong.”
The 53-year-old claims that campaigning to prove her son’s innocence has affected her health.
She said: “It’s very hard and takes its toll. Can you imagine fighting for your child for 10 years?
“People would shout at me on the street and throw rocks at my car.
“My business was attacked. Other visitors even tried to attack me in prison.”
