Fire crews freed a man from a forklift truck in Gorebridge yesterday after it had tipped over and left the driver trapped inside the cab.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) Operations Control Edinburgh received a call around 10.20am yesterday morning (Tuesday May 28) to the Stewart Milne Building Site, Kirkhill Rise, Gorebridge where a 21 year old male was trapped in a crew cab of a forklift truck.
Crews from Newcraighall and Dalkeith were mobilised along with the Heavy Rescue Tender from Newcraighall and upon arrival discovered the forklift truck had tipped trapping one casualty inside the crew cab.
Firefighters got to work immediately to rescue the casualty by firstly breaking the glass to the cab then using specialist cutting gear removed the seat.
This allowed the firefighters to gain access to either side of the cab where they safely moved the casualty onto a spinal board and passed him over to the ambulance service.
The casualty was suffering from spinal and chest injuries but they were not thought to be life threatening. He was transported by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for further treatment.
