IF there’s a record run by an Olympic torchbearer, Brian Wilkie might just set it.
The 64-year-old, from Mayfield, has been chosen to carry the flame through part of Broxburn on June 13.
As a former professional runner, Brian seems well suited for the task.
He is still keeps himself in trim and, on occasions, young athletes call on his many years of coaching expertise.
Brian said: “It’s brilliant to have been chosen.
“I’ll be 65 in October, a celebration in itself, but now I’m getting to carry the Olympic torch.
“It doesn’t get much better than that.”
