A 12-year-old schoolgirl from Mayfield has had her flowing locks chopped to raise money for children’s cancer charities.

Newbattle High pupil Chantelle Walker gave up her long hair for a short bob at Sam’s Hairdressers in Mayfield, raising £115 in the process for charity.

Her mum Grace Robertson Walker (45), said: “She is happy, over the moon.

“Her goal was originally £100 but she has now raised £115.

“I’m so proud of her.

“She still hopes to raise more money.”
