Ryan McCallum’s hat-trick gave Penicuik’s a flying start when they travelled to Perth for this opening league match against newly-promoted Jeanfield Swifts.
The game started briskly and scored in the 13th minute when McCallumlatched on to a clever Jancyzk free kick.
Eight minutes later he doubled the lead when again he was first to the ball, glancing home a header from a corner kick.
Penicuik defended well to hold their two-goal lead at half time.
From the start of the second half, Jeanfield upped their game and their hard work paid off when they pulled a goal back in the 61st minute with a Fowler strike.
Penicuik manager Harvey made a double substitution and gradually Cuikie overcame the Swifts’ pressure to again get control of the game.
McCallum completed his treble in the 71st minute with a header from a Kyle Scott cross.
However, in the process of scoring, he suffered a badly cut eye and took no further part.
The home side were far from finished and Anderson wrestled Young out of the way to score with a looping header in the 80th minute.
In the final ten minutes, Penicuik defended well to who earned a well-deserved first three points in the opening game of the season.
