Midlothian’s largest registered social landlord has announced a below-inflation rent increase of four per cent from April 1.
In addition, Melville Housing Association staff wages will be frozen for a second consecutive year.
The new rents, which mean an average increase of approximately £2.60 per week, were agreed following detailed consultation with tenants. This included a tenant-wide survey and a consultation meeting, at which senior Melville staff listened to the views and concerns of customers.
Income for the coming year will help Melville deliver a series of improvements to tenants’ homes – including new external doors – as part of a drive towards greater energy efficiency.
