Midlothian’s involvement in the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival begins with a mini launch event in Loanhead (today) Sunday.

The Kabin will host an afternoon of short films, music and poetry from local artists and organisations from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. To attend, contact Emily Steedman on 0131 663 1616.

Through to Monday, October 24, there will be an exhibition of artwork in the Kabin. The Inspiration 2011 event will also feature living art in the centre’s garden spaces.

The exhibition, of work produced by community organisations, will also be displayed in Midlothian libraries. Exhibitors include the Orchard Centre Services, Health in Minds, Oor Mad History, CAPS, Women’s Aid and MYPAS.

“Belonging” is a drama workshop, which will take place in Bonnyrigg Public Hall, Lothian Street, on Thursday October 20 from 10am.

The event will explore the ideas of memory, identity, belonging and exclusion.
