Midlothian’s hospitality businesses could gain positive benefits by taking part in the annual food and drink awards.

Alan Gorrie, the new chairman of the Midlothian Food and Drink steering group, has been involved in the hospitality trade for 13 years.

His company, Loanhead-based Deli-Licious, has won the Food and Drink Best Outside Caterers Award four times.

“We are not a massive company like Compass or other multi-nationals. It is nice to be recognised for the service we provide and for food quality. It allows customers to know you are a respectable caterer,” he said.

The chairman added: “Any food and drink business should try and get involved. There is potential to gain new customers from it. And if they want to find out more they should get in touch with us.”

Voting for the eight categories this year continues until April 24.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner at the National Mining Museum Scotland on June 9.
