It’s official – business is booming in Midlothian.
A recent report by Midlothian Business Gateway has revealed that the county is doing well in business start-ups.
In 2013/14 Business Gateway assisted 196 businesses in starting up – an increase from 121 in 2012/13.
There has also been an increase in the number of women entrepreneurs starting businesses in Midlothian –out of 196 business start-ups, 76 were female.
There is good news on the jobs front too, after 298 jobs were created in the last year through small businesses.
Councillor Jim Bryant (SNP), cabinet member for economic development, said: “This report proves that our small business community in Midlothian is thriving, especially for small business start-ups and the Business Gateway service has really taken off and gone from strength to strength.”
