Midlothian care homes unite with one voice

Choir singers representing nine Midlothian care homes have united under the banner of ‘One Voice’.

Organiser Mary MacFarlane drew together singers from Archview and Whitehill Lodge care homes for a show in November last year. She stressed at the time how keen she was to further develop the project by bringing on board another home for a concert in 2012.

Ten months on and Mary, an activities co-ordinator at Archview, has surpassed even her wildest expectations by forming a 60-strong choir comprising clients from across nine county care homes.

Speaking to the Advertiser last week, she said: “We have been practicing new for six months and it’s all coming together – we are looking forward to the big day. It’s fantastic to see how many people this has brought together.”
