Midlothian Council is preparing an economic recovery plan designed to boost the local economy and drive forward sustainable economic development.
Central themes will include infrastructure investment in transportation, schools, housing and regeneration projects together with tackling youth unemployment, apprenticeships and skills development.
Renewable energy, rural development and the digital economy will also be given priority.
The plan, which was approved at a recent meeting of the full council last week, will outline a list of projects and initiatives which require funding in order to get underway. Identification of these projects will run in tandem with preparation of the new plan.
