Midlothian farmer makes milk price call

A MIDLOTHIAN farmer is bypassing the supermarkets to ensure a fair price for milk production.

Bonaly Farm Dairy at Loanhead is selling direct to local shops, hotels and restaurants rather than to the large supermarkets.

Dairy farmers have been complaining that some milk processors and supermarkets are not paying a fair price for their product.

Donald Laird, who owns Bonaly Farm Dairy, said: “There’s no doubt that farmers are being ripped off for supplying milk to the supermarkets.”
