Firefighters in Midlothian are leading the way in using defibrillators to act as first responders to heart attack victims.
Addressing a recent meeting of the Safer Communities Board in Dalkeith, Dean Mack of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “In the Midlothian area we are now being turned out as first responders to go out and deal with heart attack victims.
“This number has increased and I think it will steadily increase as partners such as the ambulance service realise that we will attend to people who are suffering from heart attacks to give them quick treatment.”
