Hundreds of local children got together recently at Vogrie Park in Gorebridge to celebrate a national dayof fun.
Some 500 children, parents and carers from throughout Midlothian and beyond went out to celebrate National Playday at an event held by Midlothian Association of Play (MAP).
Participants including groups such as out-of-school clubs and community nurseries took part in Midlothian’s playday on August 7.
Susan McIntyre, development manager at MAP, said: “In 2012, MAP piloted a community playworkers project which put playworkers and resources into public spaces in various parts of Midlothian, to help create more playful places.
“Consultation with children shows they greatly valued this project and that it did help them get out to play.
“We hope projects like that and playday, which has been a great day out, help highlight the importance of playful places for children.”
