The Button Box is a new community project which was launched in December 2016 by Diane Janczyk and Clair McLaren.
The Button Box collects children’s clothing donations, for ages 0 to 16 years, from across Midlothian and puts them back into the local community.
Diane and Clair, who both work in Midlothian, felt that developing this very simple idea would have a significant impact on the children and families across the county.
The project plans to run community events throughout the year at different venues across Midlothian where ALL families will be welcome, regardless of their circumstances, to come along for a cuppa and a chat and collect FREE clothing for their growing families.
The Button Box is delighted to be able to announce its first free community event will take place at Bishops Move, 4 Eastfield Farm Road, Penicuik, on Saturday, March 4 from 11am to 2pm.
Supporting local communities is important, supporting children and families by valuing them as individuals and the contribution they can make to the place they live and bring their children up, families want to be able to give back to their community and feel part of something bigger, that’s what community is all about...relationships!
This new project was only launched in December and already has gained great support from many families and local businesses across Midlothian.
We are so lucky to have the support of Bishops Move Edinburgh, who have offered us free storage, materials and are acting as our main drop off point for families. Without this support and that of our volunteeers The Button Box would not have became a reality.
If you would like to donate to The Button Box then please visit our Facebook page or simply drop your donation off at Bishops Move at its Penicuik depot (address above) anytime Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.
