Midlothian MP Owen Thompson is pleased that the controversial artist he wants banned from this country has cancelled his trip to the United Kingdom.

Mr Thompson had taken action against the organisation of “sexist and hate-mongering” meetings across the UK by “Roosh V” who came to notoriety when he advocated for rape to be made legal on private property.

The Midlothian MP wrote to Home Secretary Theresa May urging her to take action against Daryush Valizadeh’s views and asked that he be denied entry to the UK.

Owen Thompson MP has now welcomed the news that the American will no longer be visiting the country.

He said:“I’m pleased that Roosh V has decided to cancel his so called ‘meet up’ events for like-minded ‘men’ however we cannot be complacent about views like his in civilised societies.

“Any form of violence or sexual crime against women is completely unacceptable and while it is vital that everything is done to raise awareness of sexual assault we must also educate those who could become perpetrators.”
