Police officers in Midlothian have pledged to complete a gruelling 130-mile cycle ride to raise cash for Edinburgh’s St Columba’s Hospice.

Police constable Donald Kettrick, from Bonnyrigg, will join detective constables Jamie Gilmore and David Riddell, both from Dalkeith, in attempting the 16-hour journey from Glasgow to Dunbar, via the Lammermuir Hills, on Saturday, August 27.

David and his colleagues hope to raise funds for the hospice after being impressed by the level of service they provided to a terminally ill friend two years ago.
