The Leadburn Inn is celebrating full throttle after making it to the finals of the Scottish Bar and Pub Awards.
From a total of 1600 entries this year, the Leadburn has made the final four for a Caledonian Brewery Award For Innovation. The award winners will be announced at a ceremony in Glasgow on August 16.
Ian Dempster from Penicuik, and partner Fiona Brown from Portobello, took over the public house just under three years ago.
Ian said: “The Leadburn was a traditional country pub until it burnt down in 2005. Now we are a country pub which sells food, real beers and has a huge kids’ soft play area as one part of business and a motorcycle club as the other side of the business.
“The pub has been popular with bikers since 1989 and we have grown that side of the business and had 800 bikes here in the first Thursday of July. We regularly bring in bike dealerships and if you bring in your bike licence you can take out something like a Ducati, a Harley or BMW.
“I ride a bike and Fiona goes on the back with me so we mix business and pleasure. We raise a lot of money for charity too.”
The judges are looking for businesses using innovative practices when it comes to attracting customers.
