Exam results for Midlothian have shown an improvement - with more pupils achieving passes in Intermediate, Standard Grade and Higher.
The percentage pass rate for English and Maths at Standard Grade is 95 per cent - slightly higher than last year’s national average of 94 per cent.
At S5, Higher results show a positive improvement from last session with over 45 per cent of young people achieving at least one Higher pass and one in every ten pupils attaining five Higher passes.
Statistics reveal an increase in young people remaining at school to complete a sixth year (96 per cent), which is higher than the national average - attaining basic qualifications in English and Maths.
In addition, a higher percentage of sixth year pupils than last year have attained Higher and Advanced Higher passes.
