Midlothian pupils on their marks for Olympic trip

A MIDLOTHIAN school has been awarded funding for a pre-Olympics visit to London.

St David’s RC Primary School in Dalkeith secured £2000 after making a successful application to the Dalkeith Common Good Fund.

Midlothian councillors at last week’s general purposes committee were told that the school intended to take P7 children on a three-day trip to London in May.

Taking a class of 23 children is expected to cost £8000 (about £350 per pupil), with the school aiming to raise half the total.

Chris Wedlock, a P7 teacher, described the proposed visit as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” in his application letter.
