Pupils from Newtongrange, Gorebridge and Lawfield Primary entered into the festive spirit when they visited Black Diamond FM just before Christmas.

Each year Russell Aitken hosts ‘The Black Diamond Christmas Special’ where he invites primary schools to become involved in the programme. The schools select who will come along to the studio to co-present the programme.

Beforehand, the pupils collect Christmas messages from friends and family to read out live on the programme. Russell arranges gifts to be presented by Santa and has a wee chat with all the children and gives his Christmas message live on air.

The three primary schools this year were Newtongrange, Gorebridge and Lawfield. The head teachers from Newtongrange and Lawfield were in the studio while the Gorebridge head teacher was live on the phone. They all spoke about their school in the lead up to Christmas and gave their Christmas message live on air.

Russell said: “It was another successful programme in 2016 and I cannot wait until Christmas 2017.”
