Midlothian researchers welcome royal visitor

The Princess Royal congratulated Midlothian scientists for their contribution towards providing safe and sustainable food across the world.

The Princess met with researchers from the world-famous Moredun Foundation and Moredun Research Institute at the Pentlands Science Park.

More than 120 representatives from the agriculture, veterinary, research, health and food sectors met to debate Scotland’s role in global food security.

With the world’s population predicted to rise from seven billion to nine billion by 2050, producing enough food to feed an expanding population has been recognised as one of the greatest challenges facing mankind.
