Midlothian restauranteur calls for “solidarity” against the Islamic State

A Muslim businessman is calling on people from all walks of life to take part in a protest rally against the “barbarous” Islamic State.

Matin Khan, who runs the Itihaas restaurant and takeaway in Dalkeith, wants to give the public an opportunity to show their solidarity with the British government.

Mr Khan was shocked into action after being shown a brutal video of IS fighters beheading a captive.

Together with retired restaurant boss Shahnoor Chowdhury he is planning a protest march leaving from the Mound in Edinburgh at 3pm on Sunday, October 26.

It is anticipated that a number of key speakers will be in attendance.

Only official placards will be allowed at the march. These include ‘we hate IS’ and ‘we stand fast with the British government’.
