This is a silver medal of Newtongrange Lothian Cricket Club.

It was presented by J W Scorgie to Thomas Blackie at a social gathering in the Justinlees, Eskbank, in 1887.

The medal, which features a scene from a cricket match, was made in Edinburgh in 1876.

J W Scorgie, the donor of the medal, was probably the founder of the club. He was the master at Newbattle Colliery School for Boys and, significantly, he came from Fraserburgh where one of the first cricket clubs in north-east Scotland had been established in 1862.
