A Roller Derby team founded by a Bonnyrigg woman made a winning start in front of an eager crowd last Saturday in their first ever bout.
Made up of predominantly Midlothian women, Lothian Derby Dolls took on fellow debutants Central Belters in the ‘cherry pop’ bout at the Jack Kane Centre in Edinburgh in front of 150 fans.
Roller Derby is played by two teams of five skaters, only one of these skaters (a Jammer) can score points from each team by lapping the opposing skaters. The other four skaters have to try to get their jammer through the pack to score points, while stopping the opposing Jammer from getting through their pack.
It was Lothian Derby Dolls that won this bout, 252-108.
