Midlothian’s housing burden

MIDLOTHIAN is having to absorb an unfair share of housebuilding, it is claimed.

Homes for Scotland – an umbrella group for the house building industry – feels the balance of housing allocation across the Lothians is wrong, with Midlothian and West Lothian bearing the brunt of over-demand for development in Edinburgh and East Lothian.

The organisation made the comments following recent talks between housebuilding firms and planners at Midlothian Council.

Homes for Scotland has commended the council for its willingness to accommodate housing demand and for its positive approach to discussions with developers.
