Midlothian speeders urged to cut speed

A SENIOR police officer is urging drivers in Midlothian to cut their vehicle speed to save lives and reduce accidents.

Chief Superintendent Derek Robertson of Lothian and Borders Police said there was a clear and established link between speeding and crashes which cause death or serious injury.

Police are cracking down on those who put their own lives and the lives of others at risk by ignoring speed limits or by driving inappropriately for the conditions and surroundings.

Forces across the country have taken part in a weekend of action co-ordinated by the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS).
