Two Midlothian community councils are to support a cash appeal by the Friends of Saltersgate School.
Penicuik and District Community Council agreed to donate £250, while Loanhead and District Community Council is to give £50.
Penicuik’s Bill Fearnley said he was happy to support an organisation which served the whole of Midlothian. Saltersgate School, based at the Dalkeith Schools Campus, provides education for youngsters with additional needs.
Loanhead chairman Pat Kenny said: “I feel they are doing an awfully good job.” Loanhead previously supported the Friends of Midlothian Children, which donated a holiday caravan to the school when it wound up. FOSS has approached community groups and organisations in a bid to raise £1,500 to allow it to keep its charitable status.
Last month, Newtongrange Community Council decided not to support the appeal, given its commitments in the village.
