Police in Midlothian are appealing for witnesses following a series of break-ins to vans in the region.

At least six Ford vehicles were targeted in Roslin, Rosewell and Bonnyrigg overnight between Monday and Tuesday, December 7 and 8, and various items of property were stolen from within.

Officers believe the vans were entered after a device to overcome their door locks was used.

Anyone who can assist police with their inquiries is asked to come forward

Inspector John Dryden from Penicuik Police Station, said: “The vehicles involved were all Fords and either a Ford Connect or Transit and we are conducting inquiries to establish if each crime is linked.

“We would ask that all owners of Ford vans review their security in light of the use of this device and make sure they have taken adequate steps to protect their vehicles.

”I would also encourage anyone with any information regarding these crimes or this tactic to contact us via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
