Meet Hyde and Peek, the two runaway wallabies who enjoyed their 15 minutes of fame after escaping from their new Midlothian home.

The marsupials had barely been released onto an island within Leadburn Manor Fly Fishing Centre when they made a break for freedom.

The first wallaby was captured on Wednesday evening after being safely darted by a local marksman. The Scottish SPCA were called in to help with the hunt. The second animal was spotted at 8pm on Thursday, but not captured until four hours later. Both are now getting used to their new enclosure.

Fishery owner Francis Gilhooley said: “They are settling in quite fine. They are munching away just now.”
