Midlothian South MSP Christine Grahame has welcomed the news that Scotrail will award prizes to milestone passengers on the new Borders railway.
Ms Grahame (SNP) met with the managing director of Scotrail recently to discuss issues on the new line and he told her there will be prizes awarded.
She said: “The managing director of Scotrail revealed to me that prizes will be given to the quarter millionth, half millionth and millionth passengers on the line but he wouldn’t reveal any further details!”
She added:“The prediction by Scotrail for passengers on the Borders railway was half what has actually happened and that’s why there have been issues with not enough carriages and extra ones having to be brought in from other lines. Once the early popularity has settled we will see how the numbers pan out but with the steam train causing delays also hopefully the early overcrowding will disappear.”
