A retired Deputy Lord Lieutenant in Midlothian is backing the call to name a street in Gorebridge after the man who helped catch child killer Robert Black.
As reported in the Advertiser last week, a campaign in David Herkes’s name has been launched .
Deputy Lord Lieutenant Althea Dundas-Bekker said: “I would be very grateful for my name to be added to the support for a street to be named after David. My two daughters were the same ages as the young children taken by Robert Black and we all felt so much for those close to them.
“I remember David as a charming and modest gentleman who would not seek recognition for himself but a lot of us would love to see him honoured in this way.”
Provost Joe Wallace has agreed to the plans and is now just waiting on a new street to be built.
