Newtongrange Community Council’s work this year was praised at the group’s recent annual general meeting.
Jane Grant was elected to the community council to join chairman Jason Ferry, vice chairman Joseph Miller, secretary Ron Campbell, treasurer Morag Moffat and members Robert Murray and Peter Quinn. There are still four vacancies.
Councillor Bryan Pottinger (Lab) said: “Community councils are a very good thing, particularly for developing their own areas. And we are thankful we have one like that here.“If one person is asking to get something done, it might get done, but if the community council get involved there is a good chance it will happen.”
