A CALL has gone out to former Newtongrange ‘royalty’ as the village prepares to celebrate its centenary gala day next summer.
A special programme of events includes a centenary reception with invited guests who have contributed to the gala over the years.
Speaking at last week’s Newtongrange Community Council meeting, John Turnbull from the gala day committee said he hoped to see former gala day kings and queens reunited at the event.
He said: “We will have the ex-gala kings and queens there. We want to contact as many of them as possible. It’s going to be quite a big event, up at the mining museum, we think.
“This will be a centenary reception with invited guests that have helped us over the years, and of course some kings and queens will be there to meet each other again.”
