Newtongrange Primary School pupils took over the National Mining Museum Scotland for the day recently to learn about the different roles carried out there.

Activities included learning about the colliery from an ex-miner guide before taking the rest of the class on a tour, and learning about the museum’s collections.

Gillian Rankin, marketing and events officer at the museum, said: “Children bring bright ideas, imagination and energy which can inspire our future events and product development as we are able to see the museum through their eyes.

“Newtongrange Primary School did a fantastic job.”
