More reaction has been voiced on the replacement Newbattle High School following last week’s meetings.
At the Gorebridge Cares meeting MSPs Christine Grahame (SNP) and Jim Hume (Lib) confirmed they were supporting the fight to keep all eight facilities open. Ms Grahame said that no facilities “would shut on my watch”.
Speaking after the meeting Jim Hume (South Scotland MSP) revealed his hope that the closure plans would be dropped.
He said: “What the council is proposing is unbelievable and frankly, I share people’s dismay that councillors are even contemplating taking away these vital facilities, a move which I believe would cause real hardship in this community.
“Gorebridge residents have sent a very strong message to the councillors who must now listen to them and ditch their unpopular and unfair closure plans.”
