Midlothian Council can’t guarantee the upkeep of community buildings previously threatened with closure.

It follows fears raised by Newtongrange Community Council in last week’s Advertiser regarding the maintenance of facilities that had fought the threat of closure as part of the replacement Newbattle High School plans.

Midlothian council said: ““Clearly, if there were problems with the facilities which prevented them being used or presented a danger, we would have to look again at the position but no funds for maintaining them – beyond that work already agreed – has been identified.”
