Overflowing wheelie bins are causing a stink in Dalkeith.
Town representatives are also concerned that the containers have been obstructing pedestrians.
At a recent meeting of Dalkeith Community Council, member Kitty Wright told the group: “It’s diabolical – there are bins out all month round, and they are often overflowing. At Miller’s Close, people are complaining that the stink is awful – there was toast and all sorts lying on the ground when I walked past.
“It’s sad because it detracts from all the work that has been done to improve the closes in Dalkeith.”
Community council chairman John Hackett added: “Waste collection on the High Street is a real problem. It seems that every metre or so there is wheelie bin after wheelie bin. They seem to be everywhere and I would like to see the council look at this issue and look at other options that are available to residents.”
