Old case comes to haunt Lewis

Lewis, (Friday November 7, ITV, 9pm)

What’s It All About? Colin Dexter has been penning gripping crime dramas for longer than he’d probably care to admit, and although he’s produced countless efforts worthy of more comment than a word count will allow, there’s no doubt he will forever more be praised for his Inspector Morse novels – one of the best dramas ever screened on British television.

And since 2006, those nice people at ITV have given us even more chance to revel in Dexter’s imagination, broadcasting this Morse spin-off, starring Kevin Whately, which continues to go from strength to strength.

Tonight, it’s the penultimate episode of the series, the first of a two-part finale.

We’re taken back to 2001, when Lewis arrested Graham Lawrie for the brutal murder of three police officers.

Lawrie was given a life sentence, and after being diagnosed with psychopathy, was admitted to a secure psychiatric hospital. But now, 13 years down the line, the prosecution’s case is falling apart, after the forensics department that dealt with the DNA used to convict Lawrie has been called into question.

Look Out For: Angela Griffin, who has joined the cast.
