A MIDLOTHIAN school has been chosen as one of only two secondary schools in Scotland to welcome athletes to the Olympic Games.

Pupils from Beeslack Community High School will provide a Guard of Honour as the world’s top sportsmen and women make their way to the Opening Ceremony in London on July 27.

Eight lucky S1 and S2 Beeslack pupils and two teachers will join representatives in the 2000-strong guard.

The only other Scottish secondary selected to take part in the event is St Maurice’s High School in Cumbernauld.
