Olympic medal winner Sarah Winckless is going quackers in Bonnyrigg this weekend.
The former rower will officially start the 11th Bonnyrigg duck race on Sunday at 2pm. The start line will be where the Pittendreich Burn passes under Cockpen Road.
Race organiser Bill MacDonald said he was delighted double world champion Sarah, who won bronze at Athens, had taken time out of her busy schedule to visit Midlothian. She is the current chairman of the British Olympic Association’s athletes’ commission.
“It is amazing she has agreed to come up to Midlothian in winter to start this race and then to speak to the school children.” said Mr MacDonald. Sarah is to address Lasswade High pupils the following day.
