Olympic rings for Midlothian?

AN AUDACIOUS bid is being made to bring the Olympic Games to Midlothian.

Provost Adam Montgomery wants the county to proclaim next year’s London event from one of its highest points.

The Penicuik councillor believes that siting a large metallic depiction of the Olympic rings on the Pentland Hills is a tangible way of showing Midlothian’s support for the Games.

His proposal comes only weeks after irate Edinburghers campaigned successfully to prevent the famous sporting symbol being mounted on the ramparts of Edinburgh Castle.
