MIDLOTHIAN’s senior citizens got into the Olympic spirit during a special competition last week.
Around 100 local residents took part in the two-day 2012 Senior Games, organised by Midlothian Council’s Ageing Well team.
Teams from 10 care homes took part in events at Mayfield Leisure Centre, with sheltered housing and day care residents competing at Lasswade High School Sports Centre.
A piper was on hand for the opening ceremony, which saw the teams piped into the arena carrying their specially designed team flags and wearing team t-shirts.
